By Special Request

This was a great hit at the blogmeet, and several people asked for the recipe, so I thought I would share it with everybody. This is a recipe I learned from my grandmother. Whenever anyone in the family had a birthday, she would cook us a meal of whatever we requested. We all had different entrees, but this was almost always requested for dessert.

It has a tart, lemony flavor after baking, not anywhere near the vinegar flavor you would expect.

Vinegar Pie

Vinegar syrup:

1 cup white vinegar
1 cup water(a little more if the vinegar is strong)
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 tbsp. flour

Mix sugar and flour together in pan, add water and vinegar mixture, bring to a boil, then set aside. Be very careful! This stuff will go from simmering to boiling over in a heartbeat, and this stuff is STICKY!

Make up a pie dough recipe (Now this is where I usually part ways. I mostly use the boxes of Jiffy pie dough premix. Just add water)

Mix up 1 cup sugar with 1 tbsp of flour. Pinch off a small amount of dough and roll out into a small circle. Place a half-pat of butter, and a teaspoon of the sugar/flour mixture in center of circle and roll up. In a 9x13 baking dish, place enough of the vinegar syrup to just cover the bottom, then place the rolls in the pan. Do this with all the dough. after the bottom is covered in the dough rolls, place a small amount of butter on top of each roll, sprinkle the remaining sugar/flour mixture over all, then pour the vinegar syrup over top. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour, or until brown.

UPDATE: Holder says it makes too much liquid for a 9x13, and I seem to remember that my grandmother's "baking dish" was larger than that, so maybe a 10x15 would be right.

This stuff is AWESOME! I'm sure all the Blownstar Blodgemeet attendees will attest to how good it was. Oh, and do yourself a favor. Spray the dish with Pam, or something similar, first. At cleanup time, you'll thank me.

Now on to other things, I finally got some pictures of my trike.

The pink rose and accents HAVE to go!

Pretty stylin', huh?

There's a few things to do to it to get it ready for me and my leg issue, but it's gettin' closer and closer!

In the wind, and free on three!
